Why we opened
Aspects Effacing Macramé grew from evening practice at a kitchen table into a dedicated room in Luxembourg City. The name points to how knot work softens hard edges in a room — textile aspects that quiet a wall without covering it completely. We teach adults only, keep English as the working language of class, and limit seats so coaching stays personal.
The atelier is not a café and not a retail warehouse. Cord, dowels, and rings are stocked for workshops first. Visitors who want to buy a finished hanging are welcome during opening hours; most sales still begin as conversations about width and light rather than impulse picks from a rack.
How we teach
Lessons stay on the table. We demonstrate a sequence, then walk the benches while you repeat. Mistakes are left visible long enough to understand tension — then undone carefully so cotton is not wasted. Music stays low or off. Phones are welcome for reference photos of your own work, not for long video calls at the shared table.
We choose cotton that holds a clean square knot and frays honestly at the ends. Synthetic ropes appear only when a client specifically needs outdoor durability for a commission. Beginners start on bone cotton because the knot count is easier to read against a pale fibre.
Neighbourhood
12 Rue Aldringen sits in central Luxembourg City, a short walk from tram and bus links. The room is on the ground floor with step-free entry. Toilets are shared with the building and kept unlocked during workshop hours. If you arrive early, wait in the small vestibule rather than the work floor so active classes are not interrupted.
